These must be installed BEFORE drywall. They increase bass response, prevent audio from entering adjoining rooms, and provide fire rated enclosure (UL standard ASTME E-119).

So I install sound systems for a living and I have to say this enclosure is great for new construction. I isolates the sound better than say a russound rear enclosure so you dont have an much audio bleeding into the room above. It also allows for a higher base and mid-range sound output.Downside to the box is the size. It may throw off the speaker placement by 1-8 inches from center of the room. Unless you want to want to move a ceiling joist or two.
